IN THE CIRCUIT COURT OF FLORIDA, SEVENTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT
IN AND FOR FLAGLER, PUTNAM, ST. JOHNS AND VOLUSIA COUNTIES


RE: APPOINTMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE FAMILY LAW JUDGE
REF: FM-2011-004-SC (Rescinds FM-2007-004-SC (A))

WHEREAS, a chief judge is authorized to appoint administrative judges pursuant to Rule 2.215(b)(5), Florida Rules of Judicial Administration, and

WHEREAS, the undersigned has determined that the appointment of an administrative judge for the family division is in the best interest of the Seventh Judicial Circuit;

NOW THEREFORE, I, WILLIAM A. PARSONS, Chief Judge of the Seventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, hereby appoint the Honorable John M. Alexander as Administrative Judge of the Family Division in the Seventh Judicial Circuit. The Family Division includes domestic relations, juvenile delinquency, juvenile dependency, and other related case types. The duties of the Administrative Judge of the Family Division include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Chairing a circuit-wide Family Law Advisory Group (the circuit-wide Family Law Advisory Group must meet at least twice per year);

  2. Chairing a circuit-wide Juvenile Dependency Court Planning Committee for purposes of establishing Model Dependency Courts in those counties interested in pursuing such an endeavor;

  3. Encouraging judges assigned to the family division to conduct periodic meetings with stakeholders in their respective counties;

  4. Developing proposed policies for the Chief Judge’s consideration related to the operation of the family division;

  5. Making recommendations concerning the need for and use of resources that may be required to effectively adjudicate family matters by the judges in the family division;

  6. Assisting with the training and orientation of judges newly assigned to the family division; and

  7. Performing other related duties as may be assigned by the Chief Judge.   

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Administrative Order # FM-2007-004-SC (A) is hereby rescinded.
