IN THE CIRCUIT COURT OF FLORIDA, SEVENTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT
IN AND FOR FLAGLER, PUTNAM, ST. JOHNS AND VOLUSIA COUNTIES


RE: Guardian Advocate Training - Baker Act / Marchman Act
REF: PB-2017-010-SC
(Rescinds PB-2011-010-SC)

WHEREAS, pursuant to §§ 394.4598(4) and 397.6978(4),Florida Statutes, individuals appointed to serve as guardian advocates must attend a training course approved by the court prior to exercising authority, and

WHEREAS, the Department of Children and Families is responsible for developing the referenced training courses for prospective guardian advocates, and

WHEREAS, such training courses must be approved by the Chief Judge and taught by a court-approved organization;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, RAUL A. ZAMBRANO, Chief Judge of the Seventh Judicial Circuit, hereby order as follows:

  1. The on-line training courses developed by the Department of Children and Families, in conjunction with the Florida Certification Board (FCB) (see http://fcbonline-ed.mrooms3.net) are hereby approved for use in the Seventh Judicial Circuit.  The Seventh Judicial Circuit will also recognize courses approved by other judicial circuits and taught by organizations authorized by other judicial circuits. 

  2. It is the responsibility of each guardian advocate to ensure that he/she receives a Certificate of Completion upon achieving a passing grade on the training course examination.  Said certificate must be made available to the Court upon request.   

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Administrative Order PB-2011-010-SC is hereby rescinded.
