Attorneys should, whenever possible, prior to filing or upon receiving a motion, contact opposing counsel to determine if the matter can be resolved in whole or in part. This may alleviate the need for filing the motion or allow submission of an agreed order in lieu of a hearing.
CERTIFICATE OF GOOD FAITH. Before any motion is filed, the moving party shall contact the opposing party and attempt, in good faith, to amicably resolve the issues raised by the motion(s). Each motion shall contain a certificate of the movant’s attorney if represented (or the moving party if unrepresented) certifying his/her compliance with this requirement.
Circuit Judge Steven C. Henderson was appointed to the bench in 2012, first as a Volusia County Court Judge. He was then appointed to the circuit bench in 2017. Before becoming a judge, he spent eight years as a prosecutor in the Office of the State Attorney, Seventh Judicial Circuit. He earned his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University and his law degree from Florida State University. Judge Henderson currently hears family law cases at the Volusia County Courthouse Annex at City Island in Daytona Beach.
