Circuit Judge Karen A. Foxman was elected to the bench in 2014. An attorney since 1996, she received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and her law degree from Campbell University, Buies Creek, N.C. She spent much of her legal career with the Office of the State Attorney in the Seventh Judicial Circuit, first as a prosecutor and later as director of operations. She also worked in private practice for 7 1/2 years, handling family law and criminal defense. She currently hears family law cases at the Volusia County Courthouse in DeLand.
Based on the Administrative Order from Florida’s Supreme Court Chief Justice, and the directives of the Chief Judge of the 7th Judicial Circuit, we are currently in the process of reorganizing Judge Foxman’s court calendar. The courts are currently scheduled to resume operations on June 1st. Please refer back to this webpage for updates.
All hearings/trials/CMC’s and Docket Soundings set for the weeks of April 13th thru the week of May 25th have currently been cancelled. We will make every effort to reschedule all currently set matters.
*PLEASE NOTE: Injunctions and court scheduled emergency hearings will be heard every Thursday. If you are scheduled to appear to one of these hearings and wish to participate via ZOOM, please contact the Judicial Assistant at Division03@circuit7.org.
Administrative Order Z-2020-036, signed April 9, 2020 by our Chief Judge, is currently in effect. To review a copy please see the link above labeled “Emergency Parenting Procedures."
Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation while we all adjust.
**Please note that Judge Foxman has waived her requirement for filing a motion/order for telephonic appearances. We strongly encourage telephonic appearances whenever possible. Once court operations resume, you may contact CourtCall directly at 888-882-6878 to schedule your telephonic appearance. CourtCall is working with the court system by reducing fees 25% until April 30, 2020.
